ITANAGAR, Mar 3:  India Post, Arunachal Division has released a special postal cover on Idu Mishmi Textiles under Geographical Indication Tag at its Head Post Office in Itanagar.

Commissioner Planning & Investment, Prashant Lokhande, Secretary Textile and Handicraft, Swapnil Naik, MLA Roing cum President National Peoples’ Party (AP) Mutchu Mithi attended the special postal cover release event.

Speaking on the occasion, Superintendent of Post, Arunachal Division, Subrata Das informed that India Post was working in collaboration with the Department of Textile & Handlooms to release the special postal cover with Geographical Indication Tag textiles of the Idu Mishmi Communities. Such covers will give more exposure to the rich culture and tradition of the community as well as the state, he said. Three special covers of Unsung Freedom Fighters from Arunachal Pradesh were also released.

Expressing his gratitude to India Post, MLA Mithi stated that the rich identity of the Idu Mishmi Community represented in the postal cover is a welcome move. This special cover of GI Tag textiles and handlooms  will create an opportunity for the people to know more about Arunachal.
