Maksam Tayeng

PASIGHAT, Mar 31: Directly blaming China for the unprecedented crisis currently being faced by the entire world due to the escalating Covid-19 pandemic, State’s Congress MLA Ninong Ering has shot a letter to the Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar urging him that a case be initiated against the neighbouring country by India at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
In his letter dated March 30, 2020, Ering has specifically stated that China has unleashed a bio-warfare programme through the coronavirus putting world peace, security and economies under the greatest-ever threat, and as such, the central government must file a case seeking a compensation of 22 billion USD at the ICJ. “India must unite with other nations on this and also demand an international investigation on China’s role over the coronavirus outbreak,” the letter mentioned. Ering is currently under self-quarantine at his home in Remi village under Bilat Circle of his assembly constituency.
The MLA also tweeted: "Wrote to Hon'ble EAM @Dr S Jaishankar Ji and requested to take up a case against China in international forums for Wuhan Coronavirus. Earlier China has created troubles for the Arunachalees in Holy river Siang by ill-intended projects and also issued stapled visas."
Meanwhile, on Monday, Ering also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking special assistance for Arunachal Pradesh to fight the pandemic. “The Union government must immediately arrange all basic equipment and healthcare facilities in all districts of the state,” the letter read.
