PASIGHAT, Aug 2: In a formal ceremony at Manigong, West Siang District today, the 71st Independence Day games and sports meet organized by Adi Students’ Union West Siang Unit was kicked off by Adi Baane Kebang Youth Wing President Aling Pinggam as Chief Guest and Tarak Yorpen, ASM Monigong as Guest of Honour.

On the occasion of inaugural games & sports meet, Pinggam spoke on the importance of games and sport in one’s life. “Games & sports help in building a sense of cooperation and team spirit among the players/individuals and every player must maintain sportsmanship spirit throughout the tournament,’ he advised to the students as he himself had represented India in World Championship Kick Boxing on several occasions.

Pinggam also informed and reflected about the Central and State Government job policy for meritorious sportspersons in all government departments and advised the players to work hard in the field of games and sports to grab the opportunities.

He also suggested AdiSU West Siang to organize football tournament in memory of Amar Veer Tape Yajo annually for which ABK youth wing will give full support in all aspect.

While, Guest of honour Tarak Yorpen said that, sports is equally a better career option and students having sporting talent need to explore their skill.   Earlier, AdiSU West Siang President, David T. Talar and Gen. Secy. Tajer Tapir also spoke on the occasion.

In total, 9 teams from different club of Mechukha Sub-division including one ITBP team are participating in the meet.
