PASIGHAT, May 12: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), East Siang unit today observed the International Nurses Day (IND) with the nurses of various health centres of the district by appreciating their dedicated services, especially during the prevailing Covid pandemic.
BMS, East Siang led by its President Mipet Tayeng and executive members visited the Primary Health Centres in Rani, Sille, Bilat and Ruksin, Community Health Centre in Mebo and Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat and joined the day’s celebration with the nurses. The nurses expressed their thankfulness to the BMS for showing the honour. International Nurses Day is observed on May 12 annually to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the English social reformer and statistician who founded the key pillars of modern nursing.
International Nurses Day assumes greater significance at times when humanity confronts wars or pandemics like Covid-19. The WHO in its website has also acknowledged the overarching importance of nurses in battling the pandemic.
