In major success, NSCN militants surrender en mass

ITANAGAR, Jan 27: The month long relentless pursuit and concerted efforts of the Longding Police and Assam Rifles under the leadership of Superintendent of Police, Vikram Harimohan Meena IPS and DySP Banghang Tangjang to convince the insurgents through a humane approach to come and join the mainstream has been paying dividends.
Today mass surrender of militants belonging to NSCN IM and NSCN K took place.
Self-styled Cadre of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (IM) SS PVT Wangchen Wangsa, 45, 
Self-styled Cadre of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (IM) Lance Corporal Aaom Wangsu, 24,
Self-styled Cadre of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Pvt Chapha Panda,  30, Self-styled Cadre of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Pvt Jewang Wangsa, 47, and Self-styled Cadre of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Lance Corporal Chaibo Panda, 33 surrendered to authorities.
The surrendered cadres were engaged in extortion and collection of taxes. They were all holding influential positions and had been working actively for the outfit.
Earlier, prominent insurgent leaders have shunned the insurgent groups and have joined the mainstream giving a blow to the underground outfits. DIPRO
