In a major operation by Assam Rifles, delivering yet another blow to NSCN (K) and NSCN (R), two cadres were apprehended by the Khonsa Battalion and Jairampur Battalion under the aegis of DAO Division from Wakka village, Longding District bordering Tirap District on July 16 last.

Based on specific intelligence about presence of cadres trying to terrorize and carry out extortion in Wakka village, accordingly the Khonsa Battalion swiftly launched an operation resulting in the apprehension of Self Style Sergeant Tonpha Pansa of NSCN (K) with a pistol and live ammunition of various weapons. On post spot interrogation, he admitted allegiance to NSCN (K).

In a similar operation, the Jairampur Battalion arrested Wangwa Hakhun, OGW of NSCN(R) from Jairampur town. During post spot interrogation, the ultra further divulged that he has been an active member of the banned outfit for last three months and was involved in extortion activities from government employees and businessmen in Jairampur.

The security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations in the south ALP and these arrests have struck a blow to the extortions activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the areas.
