Teacher Rationalization

 ITANAGAR, Jul 8:

 

In order to fill vacant posts of teachers in government schools as per requirement and to ensure optimum utilization of staffers, the Education Department on Saturday started the first phase of rationalizing of teachers by issuing transfer orders of 268 PRTs/TGTs within the capital complex.

 

Another about 563 teachers transfer orders are in the pipeline and will be issued next week pertaining to West Siang, East Siang and Lower Subansiri districts.

 

The rationalization of teacher will be carried out in two ways—transferring excess teachers within the district and by transferring surplus teachers from excess district to deficit districts. The inter district transfer is also expected to be carried out very soon.

 

Transfer orders for teachers within the districts are being issued by the concerned DDSEs on the basis of station seniority, while teachers who are on the verge of retirement have been exempted from the process.

 

The exercise to identify excess and shortage of teachers was jointly carried out in all 3317 schools by Districts and the Directorate.

 

During the survey the officials noted that the unequal distribution of teachers in various schools is adversely affecting the academic health of the schools particularly in remote areas with most of teachers being deputed in the state capital and district headquarters.

 

Under the rationalization process, surplus teachers in the capital complex, East Siang, West Siang, Lower Subansiri and Siang district will be equally distributed to other needy districts.
