NAHARLAGUN, Jun 7: A one day State Level Review of Districts on BRIDGE (Boosting Routine Immunization Demand Generation) & IPC Skill Training of Frontline Health Workers (ASHA,ANM and AWW) on Routine Immunization was conducted today by the National Health Mission, Arunachal Pradesh in collaboration with UNICEF.
The review meeting was conducted for the 13 districts of the state viz Anjaw, Changlang, East kameng, East Siang, Lohit, Namsai, Longding, Papum Pare, Tirap, Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi. District ASHA Nodal Officers and District Community Mobilizers of these districts participated in the meeting who have earlier been trained on BRIDGE during September 2017 and have rolled out BRIDGE IPC Skills Training in Routine Immunization for the frontline workers in their respective districts to develop capacities to leverage social behaviour change communication to reach the set out immunization goals of the state.
Director Family Welfare, Dr. A. Yirang said that the frontline functionaries within the health system supported by ICDS are essential bridge between health delivery system and community and play a crucial role in creating awareness on adverse event following immunization thereby reducing vaccine hesitancy in the state. Describing the frontline workers as backbone of the immunization programmes, he stressed on percolating down the training in most effective way to develop capacity building of frontline workers to achieve zero dropout cases.
SBCC Consultant, UNICEF Bijoy Dungdung elaborated and explained to the participants on filling up the templates correctly sent by GoI and urged them to learn as much as possible from the training and utilize the knowledge in their respective districts.
Earlier Deputy Director IEC O Thamphang stressed on the need to focus more on Mid Media activity and IPC skill building to generate more awareness with emphasis on local oriented programmes. Meanwhile Consultant BCC H.D Yaku emphasised on developing district specific SBCC strategies with correct communication methodologies to combat barriers like AEFI.
