NAHARLAGUN, May 11:   Taking strong exception to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the state, Itanagar Municipal Corporation today launched sanitisation programme  for carrying out sanitisation activities within the Itanagar Capital Complex. Mayor IMC Tame Phassang flagged off the sanitization vehicles here at Yupia-Itanagar-Naharlagun junction in presence of Deputy Commissioner  ICR Talo Potom, SP ICR Jimmy Chiram, Commissioner IMC C Chukhu and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor IMC Tame Phassang informed that the sanitisation team will extend their services to Covid Hospitals, Check gates, government institutions, Banks and other COVID prone areas as and when required.
‘The sudden surge of the second wave of  COVID-19 in the state including in the capital complex is a matter of concern for everyone and so IMC has decided to sanitize all the public places which are COVID-19 prone,' said  the Mayor.
The Mayor also urged the people to cooperate with the administration during this major Containment period of one week in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR). Though it is tough for all of us to bear another lockdown but we have to extend our support to the administration and state government to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the capital and state as a whole, he said.
Citing the example of other countries like China, Italy, USA, Phassang said those countries now have minimal mortality rate and have almost contained the virus just because of maintaining proper SOPs. So, the state government needs your cooperation to contain the pandemic, let’s follow SOPs and stop spreading of this virus in our country, state and in our capital, Phassang said.
