ITANAGAR, Dec 3: The Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) celebrated the Indigenous Faith Day at Nyikum Niya Ground, Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh with traditional fervour and gaiety. The event was graced by Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Minister of Education, Welfare of Plains Tribe and Indigenous Faith and Culture, Govt. of Assam as the Chief Guest and Er. Taba Tedir, Minister of Education, Department of Indigenous Faith Affairs, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh as the Guest of Honour.
The visiting dignitary while laying emphasis on the importance of indigenous faith system as the very essence of conservation of ecological balance pitched for enhanced participation and involvement of all indigenous faith believers of the region. In this direction, he assured to bring both the chief ministers of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh at a common platform the next year in collaboration with his Arunachal counterpart.
In his speech, Taba Tedir spoke at length about the importance of indigenous faith and exhorted one and all to contribute their best for the preservation and promotion of the indigenous faith in the state.
Earlier while delivering the Presidential speech, Er. Katung Wahge, President, IFCSAP, lamented on the slow pace of actions and innovations within the Department of Indigenous Affairs even after four years of its creation. He also demanded the State Government to rename the department to its originally proposed one wherein the word 'faith' was omitted to the detriment of the popular aspirations and self esteem of the lakhs of indigenous faith believers of the state. 
He further reiterated the demand of the IFCSAP to the state government  to take initiative in delisting of any converted persons from the ST status who is no longer connected with the indigenous way of practices. Finally, he demanded the State Government to immediately implement the Freedom of Religion Act, 1978 in toto.
