PASIGHAT, Mar 29: Department of Women & Child Development divisional Level ICDS Cell on Monday organized training cum awareness programme on role of women in water conservation with mission to sensitise women in particular about importance of water conservation.
On the line of celebration of 4th Poshan Pakhwada-2022 along with capacity building on ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana’(PMMVY) Scheme, it was held at Tekang village community hall in convergence with ARSLM. Participants were PRI members, SHGs, mothers groups, supervisors, Gram-Sevikas, ASHA workers, AWWs and AWHs.
DD (ICDS) cum Nodal Officer, Machi Gao in her address briefed the gathering about water conservation and its management. Stating that “Water is the most important natural resource, essential to sustain all forms of life”, she emphasized on judicious use of water not only at our homes but everywhere so that wastage of water could be controlled. She asserted that wastage of water was the leading cause of severe water scarcity in many places and the only way to combat this problem was frequent interactions, awareness and trainings at all levels. Gao also highlighted various other aspects of the conservation of water and appealed to the participants to attend sincerely so that they could exchange their ideas and avail full benefits of the programme.
Water And Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) is essential for fulfillment of women’s rights as well as their economic and social development, she added.
