ITANAGAR, Aug 13: Full dress rehearsal for the upcoming 74th Independence Day celebration was held here on Thursday at Indira Gandhi Park Itanagar. However, this year due to COVID-19 pandemic only invitees will be allowed to witness the event.
Briefing about the Independence Day event, Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Region informed that SOPs and protocols will be maintained during the event. Due to ongoing pandemic, only invitees will be allowed to participate. At least 2000 cards have been sent out. Wearing of mask, social distancing, hand sanitizer will be mandatory during the day inside the ground.
There will be only guard of honour and no cultural event, informed the DC while adding that live telecast on TV and social media like Facebook is also being arranged.
Superintendent of Police Capital, Tumme Amo informed that, three platoons including one male, one female & one band platoon will give salute to national flag. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no march past will be held and only the standing salute will be given.
