ITANAGAR, Aug 13: The stage is all set for the 73rd Independence Day celebrations to be held here at the Indira Gandhi Park which will begin with the hoisting of the National Flag by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
The final and full dress rehearsal of the Independence Day parade as well as cultural event was conducted at the parade ground in presence of District Magistrate, Capital Superintendent of Police and other high ranking officials.
Speaking on the security arrangements, Capital SP Tumme Amo informed that security has been deployed both inside and outside the ground and even on the rooftops of nearby buildings. Regarding parking, he informed that there will be separate arrangements for VVIP, VIP, Senior Officers and public. For all-out security, checking in all city-based hotels as well as Nakas in the 6 designated places had been arranged and there will be all-women platoons with Anti-Riot equipment as well as the recently launched Vajra vehicle, SP informed.
Keeping in mind an earlier flag mishap incident, a committee has been constituted who will certify the arrangement for the flag and its pole, added Amo. Speaking on the arrangement of entry to the ground, SP said there will be three gates with XXX, XX and X marks and the same marks will be on the invitation cards to ensure hassle-free entry through the respective gates.
Elaborating on the parade which is always a great attraction, In-charge of the parade (PTC) Inspector Ngomli informed that 26 platoons are participating in the ceremonial parade out of which 9 are uniformed personnel and 17 to be comprised of schools students.
Apart from a flag post and a stage for dignitaries, the authorities have also leveled the parade grounds, besides making arrangements to accommodate thousands of invitees and general public.
