ROING, Oct 11: A one-day awareness campaign on Human Rights was organized by the Arunachal Pradesh State Unit of North East Human Rights Organization (NEHRO) at Anpum village in Lower Dibang Valley district.
The main agenda of the programme was to create awareness among the people of the area on basic human rights like Right to Education, Social Empowerment and Right to Life. “Apum is basically a remote place located in the Lower Dibang Valley district where people are living under extreme deprivation from the basic rights in terms of health, education, road communication, drinking water and proper electricity,” informed Secretary State Affairs, NEHRO, Buteng Tayeng. During the visit, we have been informed as well as observed that supply of PDS items is also irregular in the area.
It is worth mentioning that the devastating flood of 2015 affected more than one hundred families and washed away 73 houses completely. The people of the area has apprised us that there is no relief provided from the government till date and they are still in the hope to get it and it further transpired that only an amount of Rs. 5000 was provided as an immediate relief to some families, lamented Tayeng.
