ITANAGAR, Aug 2:The All Arunachal Hotel, Resort, Restaurant and Bar Association (AHRRBA) on Wednesday has come down heavily on the Capital police for disclosing names of few hotels to the media for allegedly running flesh trade, terming it ‘completely false and incorrect as police never conducted raids in the said hotels on that day.’

Resenting the names of few reputed hotels like Paramount, Kosing, Itafort, Park view and Panna being unnecessarily dragged into the case, the association while seeking an apology on moral grounds from the police has threatened to resort to democratic means of protest to seek justice.

Addressing a press conference this afternoon at press club, General Secretary, (AHRRBA), Takem Tayam said ‘What police has done by making pubic the name of hotels to the media is completely illegal on their part and has severely damaged the hard earned reputation of the hotels among masses.’

An obviously annoyed Tayam dared the police to prove the involvement of the said hotels in the alleged sex racketing case otherwise if it fails to find any proof or evidence, the association will file defamation case or seek legal action against the police for maligning the hotels image.

Asserting that the association is not in support of those hotels from where the police arrested the alleged sex workers, but said that it against the police for arbitrarily listing the names of clean image hotels in media platform without any foolproof evidence or verification.

Expressing disappointment over the development, owner of Kameng Hotel cum Vice president, AHRRBA, Tenzin Deru has strongly condemned the police for projecting the hotels in a negative light before the masses and stated ‘instead of sealing illegal bars and hotels running without proper licenses, police are indirectly harassing the innocent hotel owners like us.’

“We being the hotel owners have always given our full supports to police, whenever they ask for any information or input from us. And we never ask for anything in return. But recent disclosure made in media has completely ruined the reputation we have earned in last 30 years,” added Deru.

“On that day the police never raided Paramount, Kosing, Itafort, Park view including Kameng hotels. And if they did not conduct any raid or inspection of the hotels then how come they can say that the hotels are illegally running as brothels,” claimed Deru.

Strongly criticizing the police, President, AHRRBA, Tagru Punung has also questioned the police for illegally arresting the hotel managers on the pretext of a meeting, who were later released on the same day due to non availability of any incriminating evidence against them.

Punung went on to add that instead of charging Rs 2000 for such cases, police allegedly charged hefty amount of Rs.10000 per person for bail.

Furthermore, Punung also urged the district administration to extend the time limit of late night bar from current 10:30 pm to at least 12pm, which was earlier freezed by the district administration in view of growing crimes.
