ITANAGAR, Oct 19: In a milestone for the state's health care sector, a baby girl was delivered today via In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) at the first IVF centre of the state at the Niba hospital.
IVF specialists Dr. Jomson Bagra Dr. Ashish Kale and Dr. Ashwini Kale as senior embryologist, were part of the team associated with the successful conception and delivery.
The Arunachal IVF centre in collaboration with Asha IVF centre Pune, was set up by the same team of doctors who worked hard to set up the centre which began functioning on 21 December 2019 at the late Dr. Nirmali Taba block of the hospital.
"Following frozen embryo transfer on 21st February pregnancy continued smoothly. Planned elective C-section was on October 25 but due to unavoidable circumstances baby was delivered today. It is a special day as the first IVF baby from our own Niba hospital is born," said an elated Dr Bagra.
Everything has been done here from ovarian stimulation to egg pick up to embryo transfer, he said adding that both mother and child are doing well.
