Itanagar, Apr 30: Alleging that genuine voters were not allowed to exercise their franchises at Taba and Nampe polling stations under 21-Koloriang Assembly Constituency during re-poll day on April 27, the National People’s Party (NPP), Arunachal Pradesh has demanded immediate conduct of re-polling in these poll stations.
In a press release issued today the NPP said that 147 genuine voters of 24-Taba polling were not only prevented to cast their votes but also badly tortured and forcefully dragged out from Taba village and BJP supporters used outsiders in this voter impersonation process. NPP alleged that more than 50 bogus votes were cast, citing the instance when a person was allowed to cast votes repeatedly for more than five times. After receiving detailed report from NPP MLA candidate of the constituency Pani Taram and his election agent Arun Yangfo, State President Gicho Kabak has written to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state highlighting the details of the happenings during the re-poll day.
Adding further to the allegations, NPP said that similar incident had also occurred in 28-Nampe polling station where 59 bogus votes were cast by BJP.
State Vice-President of the party Nima Sangey Saling called on the state Chief Electoral Officer Kaling Tayeng at Nirvachan Bhawan today and apprised about the entire episode. Tayeng has assured to take the matter with the concerned authority urgently.
NPP has suggested the CEO to conduct re-polling in 21-Koloriang Assembly Constituency centrally with deployment of sufficient forces to avoid any further law and order problem. NPP Press Release
