Governor stresses on instilling sense of security among people
ITANAGAR, Oct 14: A high-level meeting to discuss the current security scenario across the international border of Arunachal Pradesh was held here at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday co-chaired by Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
General Officer Commanding, 3 Corps, Dimapur Lt. General R.P. Kalita, AVSM, SM, VSM, State DGP R.P. Upadhyaya, Commissioner to Governor Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda, IGP (Intelligence) H.G.S. Dhaliwal, IGP (Law & Order) Chukhu Apa and Inspector General, HQ, NE Frontier, ITBP Sanjeev Raina attended the meeting.
While stating that protection of citizens and territory of the state is a top priority, the Governor stressed on instilling a sense of security among people and underscored the need for building a solid coordination between the armed forces and state police for more effective results. In this regard he emphasised on real-time sharing of information and regular meetings of field officers dealing with the aspect of border security. Besides suggesting the defence and security officers to prepare a fool-proof mechanism to address the insurgency problem in the state’s peripheral areas, the Governor also asked them to educate the people there on COVID-19 SOPs and advised the CM to explore ways to motivate the state’s youths towards the Atma Nirbhar Bharat programmes. The Chief Minister while reiterating that protection of people and their livelihood are the priorities of the state government, assured all necessary measures in this regard.
The Corps Commander and DGP briefed on the prevailing situation in Tirap, Londing and Changlang districts and shared their observations on the districts covered under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). PRO Raj Bhavan
