ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Health and Family Welfare Joint Secretary Emar Ete passed away on Wednesday, after a brief illness. He was 59.
Later in the day, Late Ete’s mortal remains was taken to his native Aalo in West Siang district, where he will be laid to rest.
Meanwhile, the Galo Welfare Society, Kugi Ao Welfare Society, Ete Welfare Society and others have expressed shock and grief at the untimely demise of Emar Ete.
Remembering late Ete as a brilliant officer and a perfect gentleman, the organizations said his demise is a great loss to the state and the Galo community in particular.
Offering condolences to the bereaved family, the organizations have prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Earlier, family, relatives and well-wishers bade a tearful farewell to Ete at RKM hospital, Itanagar.
Late Ete is survived by his wife, a son and three daughters.
Late Ete joined government service on April 30, 1987, as a circle officer and was posted at Anini in Dibang Valley district. He was promoted as an extra assistant commissioner on January 25, 2002. He was promoted to APCS (selection grade) on August 7, 2012, and worked in various capacities in the districts and as deputy secretary (transport) at the civil secretariat.
Ete also served as State Election Commission Secretary from December 7, 2018, to May 6, 2019.
At the time of his passing away, Ete was serving as joint secretary Health and Family Welfare, UD & Housing.
