Itanagar, Apr 24: Landslides and flash floods were reported from few locations in Itanagar on Sunday. The state capital Itanagar has been witnessing continuous heavy downpour since the last few days.  
The District Administration has been on its toes to ensure that no major disaster takes place. The DA has issued a traffic advisory diverting the movement of Heavy Motor vehicles through Harmutty- Gumto- Yupia and Bage Tinali- Doimukh- Gumto in view of ongoing remedy work of Nowbhanga bridge at Dobam village where there were reports of scouring taking place due to incessant rain and inclement weather.
The administration has also appealed to the people residing in vulnerable areas to vacate and move to safer locations.
As one cannot save themselves from Mother Nature’s fury, however manmade disasters can be avoided through various precautionary measures hence DA appeals the denizens to refrain from building houses near the rivers, streams , low lying areas, illegal earth cutting etc and to remain alert especially during monsoons, it said in a press statement.
