ITANAGAR, May 13: A two-day state level workshop to train medical officials on operationalization of Rota Virus Vaccine (RVV) in the state commenced today here at the R.K Mission Hospital conference room.
The training which aims to impart necessary information needed for meticulous operational planning of Rota virus vaccine at all levels and time-bound detailed activities is attended by DRCHO, District Asha Nodal Officer, Medical Officers and District Cold Chain Handlers.
NO NHM, SIO Dr D Padung while briefing on RVV informed that diarrhoeal diseases are one of the most common causes for morbidity and mortality in children under 5 years of the age and Rota virus infection is one of their most common causes. Informing that Rota virus vaccine has already been introduced successfully in 11 other states in the country and now to be introduced in Arunachal Pradesh, Dr Padung said that cascading training will be imparted throughout the districts and blocks to the ground level health workers (ANM and ASHA). State preparedness will be assessed using standard checklist for successful introduction in the state, he informed.
DHS Dr M Lego urged the trainees to equip themselves with in-depth knowledge and plan their top-down and bottom-up micro plans meticulously to ensure that Rota virus vaccine is delivered effectively to all the children when introduced in the state. DFW Dr Allok Yirang also advocated for effective implementation of RVV in state.
