ITANAGAR, Jul 18: Health Secretary, P Parthiban on Saturday hinted that the current lockdown in the Capital Complex may be extended further once the Capital Deputy Commissioner comes up with an action plan to contain the growing Covid-19 cases in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).
Parthiban revealed that the state government has asked the DC to prepare an action plan after the alarming spike in positive cases at several areas in the ICR. "If the state government is convinced about the efficacy of the plan, then I think the lockdown could be extended,” the Health Secretary said.
He further disclosed that under the state's new SOPs, truckers carrying essential commodities would also be screened and Antigen test of all transporters would be conducted at all check gates even if it goes against the norms set by the Central government to allow free movement of essential goods carriers.
the complaints raised on various media platforms about the unhygienic accommodation and meals provided to the inmates in Quarantine Facilities, the Health Secretary maintained that all the facilities allocated are being looked after and run directly under the supervision of the ICR DC. "I have suggested the DC to ensure that quality and hygiene are maintained," Parthiban said. "The DC is working very hard and we all must extend cooperation to the Capital DA in this trying time and appreciate the efforts,” he added. "There are more than 300 people in CCC and 150 plus people were discharged today," Parthiban disclosed, also suggesting that people need to interpret the progressive increase in recovery rate also and the number of people recovered after treatment.
While assuring that the DA and the Health department are putting all-out efforts to curb the spread of the virus, the Health Secretary appealed to the denizens to follow all SOPs such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing etc.
Throwing light on the status of testing, Parthiban disclosed that Antigen and RT-PCR tests of secondary and primary contacts of positive cases including vulnerable populations are being done on a large-scale basis and testing capabilities, if required, will be increased too in near future.
