ITANAGAR, Apr 3: Day after Arunachal Pradesh reported its first Covid-19 positive case, Health Minister Alo Libang made a surprise visit to the State Task Force Control Room at Directorate of Health Services, Naharlagun and to two quarantine centers to review their functioning.
‘I am very much satisfied with the hard work and dedication of health experts who are working selflessly during this trying times,' stated Libang. Many doctors and health professionals  are working 24X7 at the State Task Force Control Room and coordinating with District teams, providing them full support and information related to COVID-19,' added the Minister.
Addressing the team at the control room, Libang said the government will provide all possible support both moral and financial to the department but we should continue our zeal to contain this pandemic from spreading further. “If we get success to contain the pandemic then it will be a triumph for everyone, but god forbid if not then it will be a failure of the Health Department. So we all should give our best unitedly.'
Speaking about  the installation of more ventilators in other hospitals, the Minister informed that for immediate medical assistance to any critical patients of COVID-19, the state is planning to install ventilators at AYUSH Hospital and Bakin Pertin Hospital both located in Pasighat.
Further, clarifying on his statement which caused concern among citizens a day earlier, Libang asserted that the state government is committed to all citizens health and wellbeing.
'There is no difference between people of Eastern and Western Arunachal for the government.
For better and quick medical support to serious patients, government has designated two hospital TRIHMS and  BPH Pasighat. As of now, there is no ventilator available in Pasighat, so serious patients from Eastern Arunachal will only be admitted to the nearest hospital which is Dibrugarh,' the Minister clarified adding that  TRIHMS will also be used for critical patients during any kind of emergency. 
Moreover, as per the norms, Covid-19 positive patients who are not critical can be treated at the concerned district hospital, he informed.
'There is no cure as of now against COVID-19, So I appeal to everyone to follow the lockdown measures, maintain social distancing and refrain from any social gathering,' he said.
Libang who also visited the government designated quarantine centers, interacted with health and security staff. He enquired about any anti-social activity or disturbance in the premises of the quarantine centers and urged them to contact his office or nearest police station for immediate assistance during any inconvenience.
