ITANAGAR, Sep 13:  Health & Family Welfare Minister,  Alo Libang has been tested positive for COVID-19 today.  The test has been confirmed through an Antigen Test conducted today.
The Minister broke the news on his twitter handle. "Today I was tested for COVID. I am asymptomatic and following all the necessary instruction advised by doctors. Therefore, I request each and everyone who came in contact with me in the past few days, to isolate themselves, get themselves tested and follow as per SOPs.
I urge everyone to take all the possible precautionary measures for the safety and security of yourself and your loved ones."
If reports are to be believed, a personal security officer and two other family members of the Minister have tested positive for COVID-19. Sources informed that, the Minister is well and is asymptomatic, however; he will be isolated as per the advice of doctors.
Alo Libang recently attended the BJP state executive meeting held at DK Convention hall on 8th September last. The same evening BJP general secretary cum MLA Namsai Chow Zingnu Namchoom tested positive while State BJP President cum MLA Pakke Kessang Biyuram Waghe tested positive the next day.
Earlier, Education Minister Taba Tedir, MLA Lekang Jummum Ete Deori and Kalaktang MLA Dorjee Wangdi Kharma had tested positive for COVID-19. Since the announcement of ‘Unlock’ on September 1 last, rapid increase in active cases has been recorded in the state. 

“As per the guidelines of the 'New Normal' issued by the central government, we cannot impose Lockdown. However, we can identify areas and declare them containment zone to contain the further spread of the virus," stated Secretary Health  P Parthiban.
