ITANAGAR, Dec 7: Two senior doctors, Dr. Reto Doye and Dr. (Mrs) R.Das Tabyo of the Health Directorate were given a warm farewell on their superannuation today.
Dr. Doye who has to his credit for being the first Arunachalee eye surgeon  joined the health service in February 1985 as Medical Officer at the then General Hospital, Pasighat. He was promoted to Joint DME (Director Medical Education) in 2013, then to Additional DME and finally to DME in from where he retired in October earlier this year.
Dr. Das Tabyo joined as JMO in November 1985 at District Hospital, Daporijo. Thereafter, she served in various places and was promoted as DDHS (T&R), Pasighat in 2015 and finally as Joint DHS (Leprosy) in 2016 from where she retired in September this year. Dr. Moromor Lego, DHS applauded Doye for his invaluable contribution in the field of Ophthalmology when it was in the nascent state. “Despite a challenging personal life, he gave exemplary service to the needy patients,” he said. In fact, he was the first eye surgeon to start cataract surgery in Pasighat, he added.

Dr. S. Bhattacharjee, Additional DHS in his speech appreciated the energetic and selfless contribution of Dr. Das Tabyo in the field of Leprosy. “Due to her constant and close surveillance, there was significant decline in Leprosy caseload of the state,” he said.
Amongst others, the meeting was attended by the officers and staff of the directorate.
