Lekhi, Jan 23:  Health and Family Welfare minister, Alo Libang today said that the state health department is fully prepared to handle the Covid third wave. "Compared to the time of the first and second Covid waves, now hospital infrastructure and facilities have improved; several oxygen plants have been installed in hospitals, staff are well trained and are prepared to deal with any new covid variant," the state health minister said.
Arunachal over the past few weeks has seen a steady surge in Covid positive cases. On Sunday the state reported 242 fresh infections. The capital complex reported the highest 132 cases with positivity rate of 39.1%, Papum Pare and East Siang reported 19 cases each while Namsai saw 11 cases. Of the new cases, 101 are symptomatic. 
Libang was speaking to the media at the sidelines of the flag off of COVID relief kit distribution van from Lekhi village on Sunday which was organized by the Seva Bharati Arunachal Pradesh. 
Tarh Domte, General secretary of Seva Bharati Arunachal Pradesh informed to media persons that the kit will be distributed in 10 districts, Tirap, Changlang, Longding, Lower Dibang Valley, Upper Siang, West Siang, Upper Subansiri, Kamle, Kurung Kumey and West Kameng. 
He further appealed to all denizens of the state to maintain Covid protocol.
