ZIRO, Apr 30: Hailstorms accompanied by heavy rain and wind that occurred on April 28 damaged large cardamom crops at Tajgi, Loth and Balam villages under Paramputu Circle of Lower Subansiri District.
Deputy Commissioner Somcha Lowang, Toko Babu, ADC Yachuli, Komri Murtem, DHO accompanied by the villagers and Goan Buras of the villages visited the areas and found that approximately 70 percentage of the plantations are affected.
"The hailstorms coinciding with the flowering stage have severely impacted on the fruit setting and yield, leading to heavy loss for the farmers," the DHO said. Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of the Horticulture department to prepare a final crop damage report for further submission to the government. DIPRO
