BANDERDEWA, Dec 14: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Banderdewa Police arrested three people including a habitual offender, and seized 28.28 grams of suspected heroin during a late-night raid near the Mega Food Park, Dolikoto.
Acting on reliable intelligence inputs, the police team led by Inspector Kipa Hamak, Officer-in-Charge of Banderdewa Police Station, conducted a swift operation that resulted in the arrest of the prime accused Raj Pegu (42), along with his two accomplices Seniram Das (30) and Beauty Das (25).
During the search, police recovered 22 vials containing orangish-coloured powder suspected to be heroin, carefully concealed and intended for illegal distribution. Preliminary investigation revealed that Raj Pegu is a habitual offender, raising serious concerns about an organised drug network operating in and around the capital region.
A case has been registered as Banderdewa PS Case No. 85/25 under Sections 21(b), 27A and 29 of the NDPS Act, dealing with possession, financing, and criminal conspiracy related to narcotic substances.
