ITANAGAR, Sep 11: The Galo Youth Organization on Friday urged the state government to allocate additional funds to assist the West Siang District Administration in containing the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the district.
The team in this connection today met the Health Minister Alo Libang and Secretary Health P Parthiban and submitted a representation for the same.
The GYO team was led by its president, Bajom Tali, and was accompanied by General Secretary, Luknyak Kena, Vice president, (Admin), Geken Boje, and the organisation's Legal Advisor.
In the representation, the GYO apprised the Minister and Secretary regarding the precarious financial position of the West Siang administration to contain the spread of the virus including the shortage of testing kits and limited numbers of COVID care centres.
The organization stated that the Covid-19 situation in the district is almost at the stage of community transmission and the DA will require additional funds to initiate necessary preventive and mitigation measures for containment of its spread.
As more are expected to get admitted at CCC as COVID-19 cases is surging in the district, the organization called for revamping the COVID care facilities in the district which are lying in deplorable conditions due to lack of maintenance.
"The Deputy Commissioner, Aalo is not in a position to manage funds within its limited resources and increasing pressure from the public further is causing hue and cry among health officials, " it added.
The GYO in its release said that the Secretary Health and Health Minister responded to their plea positively and assured to look into their genuine demands.
