Likabali, Jun 15 : The Galo Students' Union (GSU) today convened a joint consultative coordination meeting here with all the Principals and Headmasters of various schools of Lower Siang district to know the exact reasons for the poor AISSCE and CBSE results of 2018-19 academic session in all the schools of Galo inhabited areas and for ascertaining corrective measures in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Principals of GHSS Likabali, Gensi, Telam, New Seren, Nari, Kangku, Liru, Lipu & Koyu who shared their views and the GSU team was led by its President Mepe Ete and Adviser Reken Ingo. GSU President said that after collecting all the factors responsible for this poor performance, the Union will submit the findings to the state government for redressal of the confronting issues.
Union proposed for two phases of education tour after coordination meeting, wherein all issues will be discussed in details with parents/students for reformative measures, said Ete. Teachers and parents should work hand in hand for creating conducive environments in schools and unless the problems are discussed in round table, we cannot expect good performance from students, said Ingo. Stressing on the role of parents who are the right persons for counselling their wards, he also appealed the Principals and Headmasters to ensure that teachers perform their duties with sincerity and punctuality.
DDSE Pakgi Koyu Lombi appreciated the GSU team and assured to ensure that rational transfer and posting of teachers shall be carried out under her jurisdiction. While reiterating that strict action would be taken against the negligent teachers she also issued verbal order to all Principals & Headmasters to initiate disciplinary action against those teachers resorting to absenteeism and report her for further action. She added that despite being an infant district, students of Lower Siang have performed well in comparison to other areas.
The next round of meetings are scheduled to be held in respective schools with parents and concerned SMDC. GSU Press Release
