NAHARLAGUN, Mar 27: A one day training programme on consumer protection act on topic “Be a smart shopper’ was organized today by Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs here at a city hotel.

The inaugural session was inaugurated by Controller (LM & CA) Hoktum Ori, wherein numbers of officers from the department delivered their views and experience in dealing with the Consumer Protection Act 1986 and Arunachal Pradesh Consumer Protection Act 1987.

Addressing the trainees, Ori said that being the nodal department for the consumer affairs, LM & CA is doing its level best to raise consumer awareness and other issues related to consumer movement in the state.

Highlighting the aim behind the training, ACLM Taba Tabin urged the trainees to avail full benefit from the programme and emphasized that regular conduct of such programs will boost consumer awareness movement in state.

Highlighting vital points under consumer protection act, rules and regulation through power point presentation, Tabin also informed of the department’s decision to establish a “Grahak Seva Kendra” for which Oju welfare society is being entrusted.

He also laid emphasis on conducting consumer awareness programme every month in schools to create mass awareness among students and parents.

Various, NGOs, students from different colleges attended the program.
