ITANAGAR, Apr 10:

In the wake of the government’s decision to wind up various engineering branch in Education, Sports and Tourism departments, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has appealed the state government to reconsider the decision citing it will have far reaching ramification on the livelihood of many families.

Asserting that the decision to wind up such departments also indicates winding up of Technical supporting group (TSG) from the
state, the union said this will directly affect all the flagship programs with other centrally sponsored schemes on implementation mode which may
result in the de-link of the projects.

There have been huge lapses in the past in which the works were given to other departments and still yet many Utilisation Certificates (UCs) have not be produce. There is also huge work load and arises problems of supervision of the projects by other departments. At such juncture the decision of winding up of engineering wing will be illogical and unjustified, AAPSU said.

The union also demand for immediate creation of engineering branch in medical department.  The setting up of lone state medical college and directorate of medical education will need qualified
engineers to nurture it to grow at par with world class infrastructure, it said.
