ITANAGAR, Jul 5:A conglomeration of organizations in a release under the banner of Arunachal Pradesh Abo-Tani Clan Organization has requested the state government to adopt “Tani Lipi” as an indigenous script for preservation of Tani Language in the state.

Terming “Tani Lipi”, a very scientific script having many advantageous features and user friendly, the organization opined that the adaptation of script will immensely benefit the upcoming generation and will help indigenous tribes of the state to promote and preserve its languages that are on the verge of extinction.

The union also claimed that  during the tenure of the then Minister of Education, Late Dera Natung, he had approved the Tani Lipi as a common script of all Tani Tribes, but after his tragic death in a helicopter crash, the government had forgotten its promise to make it a reality.

Also referring to the then governor, JJ Singh’s assurance to confer the inventor of Tani Lipi with state award and promise to recommend his name for national award, the union said till date no positive steps has been taken to acknowledge the  contribution of the inventor.
