ITANAGAR, Sep 19:Minister, Women and Child Development, Nabam Rebia on Wednesday affirmed that the state government is committed to safety and security of children and to ensure that all children live in a child-friendly, secure environment.
Rebia stated this while interacting with the Chairman, Advisory Committee, Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) and Member NCPCR Ramachandra Reddy and Members of Advisory Committee, Nisha Jha and Dr.G Sreenuis who are on a three-day tour to the state to promote values of adoption in the state.
During the meeting, Rebia asked the visiting team to suggest and lend support to establish a Specialised Adoption Agency in the State following a proposal was tabled by them.
Earlier the team also paid a visit to specialised Adoption Agency (SAA) and Children Home run by Oju Welfare Association (OWA) today and interacted with the children and infants at the Child Care Institutions (CCI) and SAA.
Expressing full satisfaction with the facilities being provided, the team, in particular, praised Chairperson, OWA, Ratan Anya, for her efforts and services to society and assured guidance and all possible support.
Later an interactive session was also held with the District Child Protection Officer, the staff of District Child Protection Unit, NGOs running Childcare Institutions and CWC members in the Conference Hall, State Legal Services Authority, Naharlagun. Thereafter the team also paid a visit to the Child Care Institution run by Missionaries of Charity and interacted with the children and inspected the functioning of the CCI.
The officials were accompanied by T.P.Loyi Director, Women and Child Development Department and Dani Yami, Deputy Director (ICDS) Yupia, Lenzing Tagi, CDPO (Hq), and Staffers of District Child Protection Unit Yupia, Papumpare District.
