ITANAGAR, Sep 7: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) participated in the Governors’ videoconference on ‘Role of National Education Policy (NEP) in Transforming Higher Education’ here from the Raj Bhavan on Monday which was presided by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind and addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Hailing the new National Education Policy 2020, Governor said it will help the students and youths in changing their job-seeking mindset which was created by the imperialist Britisher Thomas Macaulay 185 years ago. Terming it as the biggest merit of NEP 2020, he asserted it will encourage the innovative spirit and skill among the youths of Arunachal Pradesh and transform them to job providers instead of job seekers. 
While informing that Government of Arunachal Pradesh will implement NEP 2020 catering to the special educational requirements of the state, the Governor also informed that a Task Force headed by the State Education Secretary comprising all stakeholders has been constituted to study and implement the new policy in right earnest.
Governor further informed in the videoconference that for improving the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education in the state, GoAP is going to revive the lone State University, which was enacted in 2012 but is yet to take off due to various reasons. Requesting the Central government to extend appropriate help and guidance for its revival, he expressed hope that assistance will be coming from the Union Education Ministry.    
Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Governors, Lt. Governors, Chief Ministers and State Education Ministers participated in the conference.  Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, RGU Vice Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha and Secretary Education Niharika Rai were also present in the videoconference.
