ITANAGAR, Jul 20: Keeping in tune with the state government’s target of developing 2000 nutritional kitchen gardens in every assembly constituency and with the aim of promoting the Atma Nirbhar Bharat spirit, Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) on Monday distributed lemon and black pepper saplings to the Raj Bhavan officials and staff.
The saplings are meant for planting in kitchen gardens and the recipients were appealed to plant and nurture them appropriately. Encouraging the staff to take kitchen gardening seriously, Governor said that Covid-19 pandemic is a lesson to become self-reliant and appealed to the state’s citizens to convert the crisis into an opportunity for development and progress. While reminding the necessity to take the ‘Make in India’ movement forward and realise the Prime Minister’s ‘Vocal for Local’ appeal, he opined that every individual in the state must be encouraged to purchase only the ‘Made in India’ products to support the local farmers, horticulturists, artisans and entrepreneurs in fisheries, animal husbandry, dairy etc. ....
