Tezu, Jan 2:  Governor (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) who is on a two-day tour to Lohit district today reached here at the district headquarters accompanied by Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and other officials.
While interacting with Gaon Burahs and farmers in presence of District HoDs, Governor emphasised on honesty, accountability, responsibility and mid-course correction wherever required on the part of all stakeholders  while  implementation of programmes, projects and schemes. He advised government officials to be punctual and maintain close interaction with the general public for better understanding of local problems. Highlighting the enormous prospects for development of agriculture in state, Governor said that the sector can reach optimum capacity if participated by the youths, also reminding the goal of doubling farmers’ income. Expressing concern about opium cultivation, he suggested for an ‘Alternative Livelihood for Opium Cultivators Programme’ that would encourage opium growers to shift to cardamom growing and other profitable horticultural avenues. Farmers and GBs shared their problems and challenges with the Governor. Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan briefed the Governor regarding agriculture and its allied sectors of Lohit district.  Local MLA Karikho Kri was present during the interaction session. 
Earlier, on arrival Governor and Chief Secretary were received by Brigadier Sajeev Kataria, Commander 82 Mountain Brigade at the Brigade Headquarters. Later in the evening, Governor interacted with the officers of this brigade. PRO Raj Bhavan
