ITANAGAR, Jan 7: Governor BD Mishra said that the very first brick of student’s growth should be patriotism. The students are the future of the Nation and today, the best thing which they can inculcate is patriotism and academic pursuit, he said while participating the annual day function of Vijnana Vihara School, Gudilova, Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
Vijnana Vihara is one of the few educational institutions founded on the lines of the ancient Gurukul System of education prevalent in ancient India. It was also known as the Guru- Shishya Parampara. Large numbers of students from North East India, including Arunachal Pradesh are pursuing their studies in the School.
The Governor said that for the students the foremost duty is self discipline and interest in study. Sharing the ‘Don’ts’, which he followed in his life, he advised the students to study hard, play well and participate in extra curriculum activities. It is must for the students to respect fellow students, teachers and their Alma Mater. While the world is going paperless, the Governor said that for young students writing daily diary would be an advisable direction.
The Governor also advised them against use of intoxicants, such as liquor, drugs and smoking and eschew anti-national activities.
The Governor also appealed to the teachers to bring up the students and be their tutor, mentor, friend, philosopher, and guide.
He asked them to focus on the needs of society's youngest and most fragile child and explore ways to strengthen sinews of weak students to catch up with others.
The Governor exhorted the teachers to commit themselves to build a society in which children receive teachers’ full care, attention, and protection with warm and affirming commitment.
Mishra was also quite impressed by the boys and girls from Arunachal Pradesh.
