3rd Bharat Lok Sangeet Arunachal Utsav connects with youth
ITANAGAR, Jan 18: Governor BD Mishra inaugurated the conference on ‘Start-ups and Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Food Processing’ at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli today. The conference is organized by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in association with Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. In his inaugural address, the Governor called for a positive movement for the promotion of ‘Start Ups’ and ‘Micro Small Medium Enterprises’ in Arunachal Pradesh involving the youth.
Asserting that the state is bestowed with all raw materials for variety of Start Ups, he said ‘It has medicinal plants, rare orchids, bamboo and organic products like orange, large cardamom, apple and kiwi. Arunachal Pradesh can compete with the best agricultural produce anywhere in the world.’
Citing the challenges in the process of Start Ups and MSMEs, the Governor said that there is lack of awareness and motivation amongst the people and the need for entrepreneurial instinct. He also emphasised on the need for research, application of scientific methods, innovation and cooperation with advance countries and food processing organization, agricultural value-chain including cold chain and storage facilities, agricultural marketing, agro-processing and exports and availability of bank loans to the needy youth with ‘Start up’.
While underscoring that ‘unless one starts, one cannot accomplish’, the Governor exhorted the farmers, entrepreneurs and youth to come forward and take the first step towards self enterprise. Commending the ASSOCHAM for organising the programme and for its yeoman service, the Governor said that there is need to create awareness about Union and State Government supported schemes, programmes for small and budding entrepreneurs.
Mishra also underscored the need for change of outlook amongst the parents, guardians and society towards government jobs. “Worldwide, workforce seeking sustenance is more than the jobs available, even in Scandinavian countries, where there is minus growth of population. The parents and guardians must encourage their children towards entrepreneurship or Start Up, which will contribute towards nation building and provide job opportunities to others,” he said.
Sharing his idea of apprenticeship, the Governor suggested that the ASSOCHAM should give opportunity and task to 10 boys and girls from Arunachal Pradesh, who are in their final year of educational discipline in their group of industries.
Do not give them any remuneration or pay, we will support them for those four to six weeks, but be forthcoming in guiding and channelizing their input. They will do wonders, the Governor said while directing Director NERIST to coordinate with ASSOCHAM.
