Itanagar, Jan 6: Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju on Thursday discussed the state's development issues with Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra at the Raj Bhavan here, official sources said.
“The Governor and the Union Minister discussed development projects in the state, particularly the under-construction greenfield airport at Hollongi and the starting of the state university at Pasighat in East Siang district and the appointment of key academic and administrative appointment holders,” a Raj Bhavan communiqué said.
The Governor, who visited the Hollongi airport construction site November last, shared his observations with Rijiu and emphasised that along with the primary construction of the runway, the complimentary structures and services like Air Traffic Control tower and security organisation must come up simultaneously.
He said the selection of lady police officers and personnel, training of airport security personnel and installation and use of security equipment and their billeting must be put in place at the earliest.
The Governor also said the work progress of the runway, security, power and water supplies, is being closely monitored by the state government. He urged the Union Minister to expedite the commissioning of Hollongi Airport through his good offices.
Arunachal Pradesh Director General of Police RP Upadhyaya and the state’s Civil Aviation Secretary Swapnil Naik were also present at the meeting, the communiqué added.
