ITANAGAR, Jan 9: Chairing a high-level meeting on the strategic Miao-Vijoynagar road project with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, RWD Minister Honchun Ngandam and UD, Food & Civil Supplies Minister Kamlung Mosang here at the Raj Bhavan on Friday, Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) reiterated the need for its early completion.
While stating that Arunachal Pradesh has a huge tourism potential due to its treasured flora and fauna and mesmerising scenic beauty, the Governor said that Vijoynagar which is the eastern tip of the state, too has an enormous potential for wildlife, adventure, eco and cultural tourism. To harness these tourism potentials, Miao-Vijoynagar road should be completed at the earliest, he observed, adding that with a good road, conservation of the famed Namdapha National Park can be made in a better way besides strengthening the national security.
The Governor asked the Deputy Chief Minister who is also the State Finance Minister to ensure regular funding of the project, which he said will generate revenues for the state in future through tourism and economic activities. Reminding that the Rural Works Department is implementing the project under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana, he advised the RWD Minister to maintain constant supervision. Emphasising on people’s cooperation in timely implementation of the project, the Governor asked the local MLA-cum-UD Minister to ensure its uninterrupted progress.
The DCM and the ministers assured the Governor of their commitment for an early completion of the strategic 157 km long road.
