ITANAGAR, Jan 13: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has requested the Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Shakuntala D. Gamlin to set up an Artificial Limb Centre in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor made the request when the latter called on him today here at the Raj Bhavan.  While stating that the disabled people too can do extremely well in all fields of life, he said it is the collective responsibility of all to provide them ample opportunities to grow. The Governor further opined the State and Central governments must take the responsibility to enhance accessibility of the ‘Divyangs’ to greater prospects so that they can become proud partners in the developmental process. The Secretary agreed to pursue the proposal immediately after the State government provides 15-acre land required for the purpose. She also invited the Governor to participate in the ensuing Divya Kala Shakti programme which the Governor accepted with pleasure.
