ITANAGAR, Aug 4: On the occasion of Jadi Booti Diwas which was observed on Tuesday to promote the traditional natural uses of medicinal herbs in various parts of the country, a plantation programme of herbs and medicinal plants was organised here at the Raj Bhavan.
Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and First Lady of the State Neelam Misra planted saplings of giloy, turmeric, black pepper and tulsi on the occasion.
Governor said that taking these herbs in appropriate quantities will help in building body resistance against viruses and diseases. He added that Indian herbs which are now being propagated through various schemes of the Ministry of AYUSH have remarkable medicinal properties that helps in treating a host of ailments such as diabetes, high blood pressure, blood sugar, stress, anxiety, asthmatic symptoms, respiratory problems, inflammatory and arthritic properties, myopia etc.
While appealing the people of the state to grow medicinal plants at their homes which in prophylactic ways will help in countering the pandemics like Covid-19 and others, Governor exhorted them to start herbal gardens in their backyards by availing the benefits of the state government’s cluster farming and nutritional kitchen garden schemes.
On the occasion, the First Lady distributed stems of giloy to the officials of the Raj Bhavan for planting at their homes. PRO Raj Bhavan
