BASAR, Jan 24: Governor BD Mishra visited the newly created district of Lepa Rada on January 23.
Addressing a huge gathering, the Governor said that the newly formed district is the long time hope and aspiration of the people of the district which has finally come true. He said that the district is created to bring administration within the reach of the people and expressed hope that it will usher in a new pace of development and prosperity.
Reminding that among others, road and internet communication are the most important factors for development,he appealed to the people to cooperate in the developmental process by facilitating the government officials in their duties, particularly in construction of road by willingly providing the required land. The Governor reiterated that state will witness development only if the funds provided for the purpose are utilized properly and 100 percent of it is used for the purpose it is meant for. He called upon the officers, contractors, public, Gaon Burahs to ensure that projects and programmes are implemented with honesty, transparency and accountability.
Receiving a one point memorandum for airport in the district, the Governor said that if airport is built, it will be for the convenience of the present and future generations of the state. He assured the citizens not to worry about the safety and security of the state as India is now capable enough to fight off any threat on her national territory and sovereignty.He also assured to take up the airport issue with the concerned authorities.
Local MLA Gojen Gadi and Deputy Commissioner Duli Kamduk also spoke on the occasion and briefed the Governor on the challenges of the newly created district. First Lady of the State Neelam Misra, Superintendent of Police, Swetha Chauhan, government officials, public leaders, senior citizens, youth, students and general public of the district were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, on his return journey to the state capital on the day, the Governor addressed a public meeting at Garu, Lower Siang District. He urged upon them to change the mindset and encouraged entrepreneurship. Emphasising on education, particularly amongst the girl children, the Governor said that society will progress if our girls are educated. He was escorted by Deputy Commissioner of Lower Siang, A.K. Singh and Superintendent, Taru Gusar while visiting Malinithan. Governor was briefed about the new initiative of the district administration for the convenience of pilgrims to Akashi Ganga and Malinithan. PRO Raj Bhawan
