ITANAGAR, Apr 20: Minister for Youth Affairs, Sports, Environment & Forests etc., Mama Natung called on Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar today. They discussed about promotion of sports and youth activities and safeguarding forest land for conservation and protection of the state’s rich flora and fauna.
The Governor emphasised on more games and sports activities to promote healthy sporting competitions among the youths. He also stressed on utilizing the services of games and sports achievers in popularizing various sporting disciplines.
Mishra advised the minister to organise youth conventions and interactions to create awareness about drug abuse and other social evils.
The youths have a role to play in addressing social issues, including protecting the environment, preserving the good age old traditions, eliminating evil social customs and contributing to socio-economic development, he said.
Concerned about landslides in different parts of the State, the governor suggested to organise mass plantations throughout the State.
Complimenting Natung for his initiative-- ‘Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan', the Governor said that it is the responsibility of every Arunachali to protect the flora and fauna of the State. He also called for conservation and protection of forest lands.
