ITANAGAR, Mar 4: Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Rattan Lal Kataria today called on Governor Brig. (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) at the Raj Bhavan and discussed ways and means for improving the socio-economic status of the Scheduled Tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.
While stating that the state has a full tribal character, the Governor impressed upon the Union MoS that being a late starter it is lacking in various fields, particularly in education and health compared to the rest of the nation. He suggested the Union Minister to facilitate social justice by helping the state’s NGOs who are doing commendable work in the field of social justice and empowerment. Besides reiterating the need for providing more technical training to the targeted groups to make them economically independent, the Governor asked the MoS to ensure hostel facilities for the girl students from rural areas to enable them to pursue secondary and higher education. Kataria assured to look into the issues raised by the Governor.
Later on the day, the Governor and the Union MoS attended ‘Divya Kala Shakti’, a cultural programme of the Divyangjans at Dorjee Khandu Convention Hall. PRO Raj Bhavan
