ITANAGAR, Jun 28: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) today visited Oju Welfare Association Centre (OWA) in Naharlagun accompanied by First Lady Neelam Misra and Commissioner, Social Justice, Empowerment & Tribal Affairs, Gamli Padu, IAS.
Governor said that Oju Welfare Association Centre is a great philanthropic institution which in spite of the limitation of resources, is discharging its responsibilities commendably. Appreciating the positive living pattern of the inmates, he advised them to move ahead in life by imbibing skill and capability to become self-reliant. He appealed the officials and staff of OWA to work with dedication for the welfare of the inmates and added that he would approach the state and the union governments for giving necessary support to the institute.
Oju Welfare Association Chairperson Ratan Anya briefed the Governor and First Lady about the services provided by them and its challenges and submitted a four-point memorandum highlighting the resource scarcity. Director, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Pankaj Deori also spoke on the occasion.
The inmates presented a cultural programme on the occasion with tiny tots from Children’s Home presenting nursery rhymes, patriotic songs and dances and inmates of Swadhar Greh presenting a traditional dance, depicting the ethos of different tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. PRO Raj Bhavan
