ITANAGAR, Mar 7: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) while greeting on the occasion of International Women’s Day, hoped that the special day, will create more awareness on universalizing the education of the girl child, women rights, female dignity and their empowerment.
In his message, the Governor said that this year’s theme for International Women’s Day; ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’, is very befitting for motivating our womenfolk to create a sustainable niche for themselves in their fold. Gender equality can only be obtained when society bestows on the people of all three genders equal social respect, esteem, standing, and opportunities, he said.
The Governor said that it is an indisputable fact that women influence human beings in every bit, everyday and every event in life. Gender equality, therefore, is crucial for ensuring a balanced approach to the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable human living, he said while calling upon all women to cultivate commitment to study, to excel, to ‘Start up’ and to take lead in social upliftment and entrepreneurship.
The Governor said that the law of nature ordains every girl child to graduate to motherhood. In this process the educated and enlightened mothers play a very important role in good grooming of the future generation. Capable women, in an even world, become the catalysts for human progress, and positivity. Ipso facto it devolves on all of us to create full consciousness amongst the women of their rightful place and niche in society, he said.
