ITANAGAR, Nov 7: The Core Group from Arunachal Pradesh which visited the Land Customs Station at Moreh in Manipur for getting familiarized with the Border Trade System being followed there, called on Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) here at Raj Bhavan on November 6 last to apprise him regarding its findings.
The Core Group comprised of the Deputy Speaker of State Legislative Assembly Tesam Pongte along with MLAs Nampong Laisam Simai & Zingnu Namchoom and Director of Trade & Commerce Tokong Pertin. Governor, who had earlier advised the Group to visit Moreh during his visit to Nampong and Pangsau Pass Border Trade Point in Changlang district, commended them for accomplishing the task well. While advising them to submit its report to the State Chief Secretary to expedite the process of making the said Border Haat functional at the earliest, he also asked them to prepare a report with due assessment by the State Government and meet the Special Secretary, Border Management in the Union Home Ministry at Delhi to obtain necessary sanction for its early operation.
Pangsau Pass Haat, after getting a well-organised shape will have a positive impact on the rural economy of the area, Governor opined. He further suggested the Core Group to stress on early completion of formalities so that it can be officially opened by the Chief Minister in presence of the Union Minister for External Affairs before Pangsau Pass Festival scheduled in January 2020.
