ITANAGAR, Mar 4: Governor Brig. (Dr) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) today participated in ‘Divya Kala Shakti’, a cultural event by the Divyangjans which had the theme ‘Witnessing Ability in Disability’ here at the DK Convention Hall.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Minister State for Social Justice & Empowerment Rattan Lal Kataria, State Minister, SJETA Alo Libang and other dignitaries were present in the cultural event performed by the physically challenged participants from different parts of the country. Interacting with the Divyangjans, the Governor motivated them and advised them to concentrate on all positive and life sustaining activities. Impressed by the cultural display, he said the participants are extraordinary individuals who have the perseverance and endurance to shine. He also expressed hope that the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, GoI and the State Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal affairs will periodically organise such events in future.
The cultural programme was organized to showcase the talents and skills of Divyang children and youths in performing and fine arts by the departments of Social Justice and Empowerment and Tribal Affairs (SJETA), Women & Child Development and Health in collaboration with Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research, Cuttack, Odisha, under Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Participants from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha, Meghalaya and Nagaland presented folk dances, yoga, body building and martial arts and physically challenged participants from Delhi also presented basketball dance.
